Where’s Your Emergency Fund?

Where's Your Emergency Fund, sophisticated spender

Hello Sophisticated Spenders!

Please forgive me if I sound like a broken record, But I wouldn’t be a friend if I didn’t ask these questions!

Where’s your emergency fund?

I’m pretty sure you’ve spent some money on going out to eat, some new clothes, cable, cellphone.

But how much have you SAVED?

I currently have 3 month’s of living expenses in my ING (a highish interest rate savings) account ( I know they changed their name to Capital One but I can’t get over it).

You may pick any number that is comfortable with you to have socked away for emergencies.

This is VERY important. (hello? anyone remember that Government shutdown last year?)

I want all of my readers to be financially fit and secure.

EVEN if it costs you a couple of months of cable (Watch TV for free online or at the library).

EVEN if it costs you that new pair of boots (Can’t pay rent in shoes).

EVEN if it costs you that shiny new electronic device (that will NOT keep you warm if your heat is shut off).

Where’s your emergency fund????

You need an emergency fund!

Don’t let one emergency set you back or throw you off track!

I am so lucky that I have been socking away a few dollars out of each paycheck for my stupidity emergencies.

So if you don’t have one, please, please, please set up an emergency fund.  I don’t care if you’re up to your ears in debt.  Try to have at least $1,000 in the bank for emergencies-every little amount helps.

Having a little stash ensures your emergency doesn’t snowball into a whole bunch of bad decisions (payday loans-I used to get those all the time while in college).

Do you guys have an emergency fund?  When is the last time you have had to dip into it?
