Contests & Challenges, Friday Five

Friday Five: Can I Go Cash Only in September?

/

Hello Sophisticated Spenders!

It’s my favorite day of the week again!

Friday

We all know I love a good challenge, so why not start this new month with one of my favorites…

cash only!

Can I go cash only in September?

I can’t even answer this question because I normally fail miserably at this task.

I finally looked back to figure out what went wrong every time I’ve tried this challenge and have come with 5 rules:

1: Some exclusions apply!  I’m allowed to pay bills and get gas (and make charitable donations) using my credit card this month,

2:  F&CK Forget those points!  I used to make exceptions because I’d say, “you really don’t want to miss out on your rewards points…do you???”  Yes I DO!  Chasing points is the worst thing you can do for your credit.

3:  Limit my trips to the ATM.  Only 4 withdrawals are allowed this month! Period!

4:  Share!  I am sharing my goal with you and all of my friends so they know the reason I am saying no to various opportunities to spend my cash!

5:  Online purchases.  I HAVE to walk to a store and purchase a gift card if I plan on making any online purchases.  There’s a very low chance of me going thru all of that trouble so it’s looking like I may not be making any online purchases this week either.

ok!  Your turn!

Are you in this challenge with me???

What are your 5 rules for sticking to this challenge?  I need all the help I can get!!!!

  1. I started last week for myself. I made it until today. Went over budget on hair and hygiene so I did not want to part with my cash. Otherwise, I made through the week and still have money.

    1. Good job Teisha! I actually forgot to include another exception category-my business. I’m allowed to spend on items that will bring in income. I can’t believe I forgot to include that important exception! I’ll keep checking in with you to see how you’re doing with the challenge!
