Travel The World Without Getting Into Credit Card Debt

travel the world, credit card debt, free

Hello Sophisticated Spenders!

[tweetthis]I have been to 17 countries & Islands and I have $0 credit card debt. I know how to travel. Keep reading![/tweetthis]

So I know a little something about travel.

I actually got a late start.

I didn’t leave the country till 6 years ago at the age of 32.  And I was immediately addicted.

I’ve traveled to: Mexico (twice), Barbados (twice), Belize, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Curacao, Dubai, Russia, Italy, Hawaii, Iceland, Paris, St Croix, Turks and Caicos, Freeport (Bahamas) and Half Moon Cay.  I also have a couple more trips booked for the year.

How is this possible??? You MUST be rich!

Nope!

Here’s how:

1:  I like to budget!

2:  I like to stay in my financial lane.  I don’t care about the Joneses.  I don’t care what kind of car my neighbor drives or what fancy new purse my friend has.  Those things aren’t important to me.  I know I like to travel!  And that’s what I’d rather do with my money.

3:  I am very picky with how I spend my money.

4:  I’ve learned to say no!  I say no to things I don’t love because I know you simply can’t have it all.  I also know how to ignore the people who try to tell me how to spend MY money.  Sometimes when I tell people I don’t want to do something THEY want to do, I am met with hostility.  They spew, “You got the money!”  “Why not!”  And I say, “You’re right, I do have the money, and that’s not what I want to do with it.”  End of discussion!

5:  Did I mention I like to budget.  I keep a journal.  And the first entry in that journal is how much I’ve spent on my credit card.  I have a maximum number.  And when I reach that number, I stop spending.

6:  Google Flights.  Google has an amazing flight matrix.  You enter your city and destination and the calendar will populate with prices of flights.  (I see a few round trip flights to Barbados for $363-some of you give that same amount to comcast in 3 months for cable).  (Did you know you can put your cable on hold and use that money for something else?)

7:  #LunchStreak.  I pack my lunch almost every day.  The recipes from Hello Fresh has made this task crazy easy.  I am still re-creating the meals from my first box so I really don’t need to order another box.  But I will get another box when I’m ready to try something new.

8: Side Hustles!  I save my side hustle money for vacations.  That money is not touched unless it’s being used to book dat ish!

Read: Side Hustles Make The World Go Round.

9:  Ask around!  I have friends who also travel.  I’m in a travel facebook group.  When I have questions, I ask!

10:  Speaking of ask…I will be going live tonight and tomorrow night at 7 and 6 pm EST to answer your travel questions.  I will also share my thoughts on Groupon, All-inclusive and cruises.  (I have experience with all 3!)

Please make sure you like my Facebook page and join me tonight (or tomorrow night)!

Did I miss anything?  What are your travel tips?
