Hello Sophisticated Spenders!
Check out my side hustle teaching schedule from one year ago:
I seriously don’t know how I did it all! I’m exhausted just looking at that schedule.
Approximately 1 year ago, I used to teach 10 million Zumba classes per week.
I drastically cut my schedule.
Now I only teach twice a week.
Why?
Because sometimes less is more.
Life quickly spiraled out of control for me and that was NOT a good feeling.
I had to figure out how to prioritize myself, my tasks and my time.
And a byproduct of all of this self-prioritizing and reflecting were a few ways to make my life a little easier than it was last year.
-
Cut back on my teaching. Now I’m committed to teaching 2 classes per week (during my lunch break at work). I pick up extra classes when I’m free and also picky with how far I’ll travel to teach class. 15 minutes is my limit.
-
Meal prep: My subscription box experiment has been a life saver! I’m thinking I’ll only need this service once a month because each box comes with a LOT of food. One Hello Fresh box makes a week’s worth of food for me. I’ve also recreated the recipes and added my own spin. So I can make a month’s worth of creations using inspiration from just one box. Make sure you follow my journey because I’ll be giving Blue Plate a try next.
-
Daily planning: I have a planner and i write down EVERYTHING! I am not even kidding. I write down how much i weigh every morning, what I eat, my credit card balance, my sharebuilder balance, when I take my vitamins, my work hours, classes I teach, how I feel when I wake up and how I sleep.
-
More sewing: I re-started my sewing habit and I’m loving it! I’ve actually made clothes for others too!
-
Less shopping: I’ve drastically reduced my shopping habits. I have SO much clutter. I am excited to tell you my new method of decluttering. (I was told I always say I am in the process of decluttering so I had to change my process).
**Side note: I know some people see things like hello fresh as a want instead of a need. but this is something that i feel like i strongly needed. it’s easy to tell someone to go out and cook new foods and try new recipes but i needed more than that. I actually needed someone to send me every single ingredient and step by step instructions on how to cook the food that was just sent to me. Now I spend less time figuring out what’s for dinner and I know how to grocery shop. I didn’t know how to grocery shop and I would always end up throwing away lots of food.
I think I’ve rambled long enough.

What’s different in my life than a year ago?
I exercise. I walk at least 2 miles 3 times a week.
I started because I decided to follow through with a New Year’s Resolution to finish a 5K. It was the 6th year I’d made the resolution, but this year was the year of no excuses! So I downloaded the Couch to 5K app, got on the treadmill on Jan 13th, and haven’t looked back!
So far, I’ve finished 7, and have 4 more to go before the end of 2016. Maybe I should sneak in a 5th one so I could say I’ve done one for every month of 2016!
Wow! I love it Lee Anne! I am making a promise to do a 5k with you this year. Kudos for sticking to your New Year’s Resolution. Your body is thanking you for it!!!!!
